The book, “Tales from the Creek, Winter Skates”, written by Dennis and Anne Beneteau is a Winter collection of three short stories of Dennis’ youth, growing up on the shores of River Canard which flows into the Detroit River.
It is the first collection of “Giggle-Stories”. These tales are charming snippets of fond memories of his French-Canadian heritage learning to skate, sharing their love of the frozen river with the broader community and school recesses playing hockey on River Canard. Anne, his wife and retired teacher and librarian, writes them in narrative style.
The engaging, classic country kid illustrations are by Gaye McGee of Amherstburg.
